About Us


Founder/Director Kate Hendrickson is a graduate of Bennington College in Vermont. A Chicago native, Kate “grew up” in Chicago’s off-Loop theatre community. As a young student actor, she received her earliest training in Viola Spolin technique. Kate has since worked as a director, actor, and theatre teacher in Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and abroad. In Chicago Kate has worked with various groups including: Pivot Arts, Trap Door Theatre, WNEP, Baubo Performance Project and iO. Kate has also taught at the Illinois High School Theatre Institute, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and at schools throughout Chicagoland. Kate currently serves as a resident director at Trap Door Theatre, Chicago’s foremost avant-garde theatre, where she has directed several critically acclaimed world-premiere productions. Kate is also a mother of two and an Andersonville resident.

Mask Instructor, Meghan Lewis is a Chicago transplant from Athens, GA. She earned her BA in Theatre Arts from Brenau University. Meghan also trained at Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre in Blue Lake, California. At Dell’Arte she developed a special expertise in mask making and mask performance. Since moving to Chicago, she has been a jack of all trades in the theatre scene.  She has stage managed for the Chicago Fringe Festival, interned with Claire Simon Casting, taught various mask making and mask performance workshops and most recently become a company member with Trap Door Theatre where she both acts and serves as Managing Director.
